May 2023: Yi Cheng, Ziyang Zhang and Xinyan Bu, a team of undergraduate students supervised by Dr. Liyun Jiang from the Department of Biostatistics of the School of Science, won the Finalist (special prize nomination, above 2%) in the 2023 Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Another team Qiuhan Ren, Chunyi Wang and Yifei Chen won the Honorable Mention (second prize, above 21%).
The MCM/ICM Contest is organized by The Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP）. It is the oldest and one of the most influential mathematical modeling contests in the world, covering many fields such as economy, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine and so on. For the year 2023, a total of 20,858 teams from universities around the world participated in the American College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, of which 7 teams are from China Pharmaceutical University, and 2 teams won the Finalist Award and the Honorable Award respectively.
